2014 SsangYong Rexton SX 2.0 turbo diesel from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Perfection need not cost a fortune

Faults:

Not a thing! Three years, 50,000 km, no worries.

General Comments:

What a bargain the Rexton W series is. I was one of the very first people in Australia to take delivery of the W when they were released in 2014. It has distinctive looks, is bolted together extremely well, rides nicely and is sufficiently powerful and extremely quiet. All in all a great all round package.

It spent its first 2 years traversing Adelaide through heavy traffic between home and work. The last year has seen it doing a daily 80km round trip on country roads to work and back.

My Rekkie has never missed a beat, traversing country roads in all weathers with the utmost confidence. I really do not understand why the brand is not more popular in Australia, as they really are a class act for a very small price.

2005 SsangYong Rexton RX320 3.2L unleaded from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Mercedes Benz quality at a bargain price

Faults:

Had to replace 2 CV boots and a rear tailgate strut when I bought it. Nothing has gone wrong since.

General Comments:

Bought it after doing a fair bit of research. Wanted a good all rounder with decent 4WD ability. Originally looked for a diesel, but when this came up at a good price, I grabbed it.

Great cars, but don't hold their value, so makes for a bargain later on when buying used.

The only thing holding it back from being a fully blown 4WD is the ride height; quite low for any serious off road work, but couldn't ask for a better car for rough dirt roads and beach work.

Plenty of power under the bonnet, smooth 5 speed Merc auto, and cruise control that actually works well, unlike previous cars I've owned. This car is smart enough to change down a gear in order to pull the car up when descending.

It handles well, 7 seats that fold down and up all different ways depending on cargo requirements. No shortage of power outlets throughout the car.

It looks great, feels great, and drives great.
