2013 Vauxhall Corsa Energy 1.2 16v petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Text book transport

Faults:

Nothing but servicing and new brake pads and tyres. Suspension has a noise at rear, will have it looked at soon, might be the exhaust rattle also. Engine rocker cover gasket has started to leak, but no big deal to fix if I wanted to.

General Comments:

The Corsa will never be anything exciting, especially in basic specs, but this car has been reliable and surprisingly comfortable, and provided me with good transport over the last few years, and is as cheap as it gets.

1.2 16v petrol engine is slow, but is very economical. No need for diesel in a car this small in my opinion, the smaller petrol engines are also more reliable. At worst it has done 40 mpg on shorter drives, but regularly gets close to 50 mpg on longer drives.

Despite the poor performance the car is otherwise OK to drive, very quiet and refined and smooth about town. On motorways it is a little noisy however.

Seats are comfortable. Energy spec is nothing fancy, but my car has electric front windows, air con, alloy wheels, aux jack for phone/mp3 player, all the modern essentials.

Boot/hatch space is nothing special, but it is a small car, cannot expect more.

If you just want basic transport, check out the Corsa. Anything from 2010 onwards is going to be modern enough and cheap to run.

2013 Vauxhall Corsa Energy 1.0 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

It has no energy

Faults:

The usual stuff, brake discs and pads, servicing, etc. No major problems.

General Comments:

Corsa "Energy" is a very basic car car. Trim level name must be a joke with this 1.0 engine - it is so slow. Cannot wait till I am older to get cheaper insurance and drive a 1.4 engine or above. Avoid this 1.0 engine if you can. 18 seconds to 62 mph. Yes, 18 seconds, that's not a typo.

Aside from the poor performance, the car is fine. Decent looking and comfortable enough, the Corsa is reliable if looked after.

As my first car I suppose it has been OK. Drives OK if you can live with the performance. Goes round corners very well, just a shame the power is not there to compliment the excellent chassis.

Everyone always says this and it is true in my experience - Vauxhall dealers don't wanna know you when you walk in with an older car - my dad has put me in touch with a local independent who is much better. I have had servicing and repairs very cheap. The car is economical - to be fair that is what it is designed for and no more.
