A/C was an option on the GLS for sure, and other lower range models.

In the late 1990s the Vectra (and many other cars) had a crazy amount of engine and trim levels on offer, some only slightly better than others, for a questionable price increase.

Still, there is no doubt cars got better equipped in general. I don't think I could live without electric windows, alloy wheels and air con nowadays on any car, it's pretty much standard expected stuff now!

Sunroofs compromise body torsional rigidity and add weight. They are a con created to compensate for the lack of AC. Back in the 90's, if you drove around in a Vectra LS or GLS with the sunroof open, everybody knew that your boss hated you and you had to settle for a sunroof instead of an AC.
