1986 Oldsmobile Delta 88 4 door review from North America
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The high output motor in this automobile is subject to putting stress on the engine and trans mount,
but I'm still driving it like a baby carriage.
The fuel and oil gauge are questionable as far as accuracy.
Has not really idled right since I acquired it;
it's starting to smooth out though. I think it's just old fuel, and the injectors need cleaning.
General comments?
I inherited this car from my grandfather who loved it, maintained it and kept in a garage.
It's sat for a few years, but looks like new and is very quiet, smooth and very fast! It has the lg3 engine; 180 hp with 200 ft lbs torque at low rpm. Will peel rubber with front wheels.
This car definitely stands out, and is just as nice as my previous Mercedes 560 SEL. Well almost, but close!
I'm actually a bit big for the car at 6 ft 2, and would like to change the front seats, and go with buckets and lumbar support etc.
The car handles very well!
Air conditioning works nice!
It's metallic burgundy with red leather seats and stock alloy wheels.
The sound system is so so, and could be changed to a better quality system.
I'm not sure what my grandpa did to vehicle, but I think the trans is new and it's very smooth! I'm going to baby it though.
Nice looking front end and tail lights.
This car is fun to hot rod, and is a real sleeper. It will smoke most japanese cars from take off to 80 mph. Really hauls!
Very very quiet inside with the windows up (which I really like).
One of the better american made cars in the mid 80s. This car has a few weak spots, but is really fairly simple compared to 90s stuff.
My favorite car of all time was my 67 Olds Toronado, but too thirsty (8 mpg)! So this one at 20-30 mpg with almost the same amount of power and torque is a good alternative. Tracks and steers well!
This car does earn some respect from the muscle car appreciator and higher end car owners. The police do look at it though, but it's OK cause I'm a senior citizen, but 4-6 young people in this car would read "pull me over " LOL.
I love this car and plan on keeping it a while
and customizing it a little. I would recommend olds mobile to anyone!
Only down side is parts and service, but if you don't mind the junkyards, then no problem! A future collector for sure!
This car really is a sleeper. Mercedes and Porsche ride and performance, with japanese economy.
This car will last a long time if you keep it maintained!
