1984 Daihatsu Rocky EX review from Australia and New Zealand
"Not for girly drivers"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The exhaust pipe had cracks in it and made it backfire a lot.
Handbrake felt weak at around 210000kms.
Rear left shock busted after a bad off road trip.
General comments?
The car is a rough ride; it's not designed for smooth handling, but it's designed for offroad use and towing heavy weights. Performs well offroad and loves a good hill climb.
After I got the carby reconditioned, the car runs better and accelerates 3 times as fast. Would go well with a nice set of offroad tires.
I accidentally left the oil cap out of the car and discovered it 3 months later; there was still 3/4 of oil left and the car is still alive.
She's like a small tank, and bloody tough.
