1985 Mercedes-Benz W124 300E review from Australia and New Zealand
"It hasn't made any problems for in my 21 years of ownership"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Hole rusted through original muffler. Fixed it at home, no big problem.
Had the wheels aligned a few times, it seems as if it's easy for the wheels to come out of alignment.
Haven't had problems with rust, due to the fact that it has very, very rarely seen to coast.
It goes through a generous amount of oil, much like my old Benz, so I thought nothing of it.
General comments?
This car has never had a major breakdown. All I have done to keep is replace the disposals such as oil, spark plugs, belts, etc.
It has been an absolute pleasure to own, it is a great car to have in the country.
It is a very stable car, rock solid platform. It hangs on in corners. I have a decent rubber on it at the moment.
The only thing I could comment on is the engine though; I felt it is underpowered and the take-off isn't what it needs to be.
