1996 Alfa Romeo 146 review from Greece
"A great car with a soul"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Gearbox down @ 250.000km.
Thermostat bubble change @170.000km; the engine temperature refused to rise above 60 degrees C, but 10 minutes and very cheap to fix.
Some interior noises, from the front doors.
Left passengers door lock refuses to unlock; I have to live with it.
Generally apart from the gearbox, only minor things.
General comments?
The first years of owning the car, I was very suspicious with the reliability issues, but as time passes, I am determined that these are just rumors, and I am now a very happy and proud alfa owner.
The car runs good and kills on high revs. It's a big inside - small outside car.
The 146, just as all Alfas, has a soul and personality.
You buy it for its "quore sportivo", and you keep it because it makes you smile more and more everyday.
This car isn't born to go slow. It was born to ride on high revs.
You love it for its looks, for its sound, for its soul, and its ease on overtaking.
