1995 Jaguar XJ6 review from North America
"Timelessly elegant; remarkably reliable; bloody fast"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Broken wiring harness near CPU in footwell caused mayhem with all systems. Repaired by dealer (Grand Touring- Toronto) and it's back on its feet again.
Throttle Position Sensor (dealer wants $600; internet vendors show $150)
A/C failed- requires expensive drier, condenser and hose (CDN$1600+).
Cracked exhaust manifold (s).
Crazy-complicated exhaust can be replaced far cheaper and better with custom s/s system from custom muffler shop.
Broken seat track causes slight shift in driver's seat.
Rear wheel arch rust showing (I have the car Rust-Chek'd and do not drive in winter.
General comments?
Fast; elegant (esp. VDP model with now-unavailable Autolux Connolly hides and inlaid boxwood trim) ; great H-K sound; stupid cheap to buy.
Now that it is being serviced properly under my ownership, it should be a long-term keeper.
~30 imp. MPG on highway.
Last of the big Jag inline 6s.
It attracts compliments incessantly.
