2002 Renault Avantime Privilege review from UK and Ireland
"French je ne sais quoi with je m'en fous build quality"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Catch of glove box fell inside dashboard, leaving the cover open.
Coolant temperature gauge disappears occasionally from dashboard display.
Exhaust system and one catalytic converter corroded; £1300 to replace, ouch.
General comments?
The best car I have ever owned, bar none.
Fuel economy appalling in town, 14mpg anyone? Eats front tyres.
Parts extremely expensive.
Dealers not the most helpful.
Trim and dashboard are generally flimsy, seem to stay together by luck.
Amazing car to drive - vision, comfort and sheer fun make up for the above.
Performance is OK for an auto, maybe the 3.5L from the new Espace would improve it. Though what would the fuel bills be like then?
Roof and windows fully open - sensational in summer and fun in winter with heated seats.
CD system good, excellent speakers.
