1989 BMW M5 E34 review from Australia and New Zealand
"Awesome car, but only for the well off, deep pocketed car enthusiast"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Rocker rover, cam plate at back of cam box need replacement at 110 000kms.
Blew a hole in extractors - cold air prong burnt off cylinder 1 extractor.
CV joints, center and rear bearing of tail shaft needed replacement, along with tail shaft re-alignment at 115000kms.
Rear beam bushes were torn at 118 000Kms.
MAF, TPS gone and needed replacing, but wasn't due to cost, just cleaned along with injectors at 115 000Kms.
Orings for injectors worn at 116000kms.
General comments?
This car is awesome, and for $17K AU for LHD premium condition one, it was awesome bang for buck. One of the best cars that I owned, but make sure your back pocket is big.
Fuel consumption was very high, running around the average 20L per 100kms.
Oil Service and filters need to be done every 4000kms being a M car.
Needs regular maintenance and can be expensive.
Awesome car, however no one expects it to take off so quick.
