1988 Volvo 240 DL review from Finland
"Very well worth the price"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Heater fan replaced at 270000km
left rear disc brake caliper replaced at 273000km due to jamming.
General comments?
The car is most reliable I've had to date, outperforming the old 1981 Kadett I had prior to this. I was very impressed with the handling, comfort and finish of the car, and the only downside I can think of is that the 240 consumes gasoline quite hoggishly (on european standards, that is) and my 240 has only 4 gears, so it is somewhat noisy on the highway. The seats are probably the best of the cars of its age, surpassed only by Saab 900 seats, which are extraordinary. Performance, well.. it obviously isn't a sports car, but a 240 with B200K engine can do 0-100 in 13 seconds, which is enough here in Finland since everybody doesn't drive Corvettes or Ferraris around here.
