1994 Alfa Romeo 164 Lusso review from UK and Ireland
"Utterly disgraceful"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Electric window motor x3 (driver's door).
Universal joint replaced.
Accessory drive belt failed causing: Generator failure (+ flat battery). Aircon pump stopped/overheated and failed. Water pump stopped and radiator exploded.
Electric seat motors failed (all 4 seats).
Door proximity switching failed, causing failure of the door open warning, courtesy lights and alarm system.
Central locking failed.
General comments?
After my new 33 this car was an utter shock to the system. It was great for 3 months then all hell let loose with it. Too many problems at the same time for anyone to cope with.
The best money that I spent on it was when I had to convince someone that a car of under 5 years should be scrapped and I also paid for the privilege of watching it die. This car was the spawn of Satan and I didn't want to inflict it on anyone else for fear of legal recriminations. This was the last in a long line of Alfas for me. Even my Alfasud was more reliable (16 years ago).
