1988 Pontiac Sunbird GT Turbo review from North America
"Gives GM brand a good image which is hard to believe!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
So far I had a faulty oxygen sensor to be replaced, a little gasket started leaking (the one where you poor the engine coolant since its not situated on the radiator) and the intake pipe that goes to the turbo tends to get loose and falls off the turbo which I lost recently, but to remedy that I put a cool air intake and I hasn't fall since! The only weird thing that I have to admit is that there is a shortage somewhere so the fuel, power deliverance, oil pressure and engine temperature gauges goes on and off once in while and I hate that.
General comments?
The car rips asphalt dangerously, but hard to keep on a straight line on hard takeoff, but it's just a question of getting used to subtile turbo boost. The car weighs like a feather since it's not the 3.1 V6 and it only weighs 86kg more than my small 89 integra! The stock handling is more than reasonable and is very predictable in curves, but at 120 miles the ass gets shaky so that's the down point sadly! The only thing that I'm not satisfied at all is the brakes that overheat like mad at high speed again!Gas wise it's not that bad, but it's not very economical compared to my integra and even worse when pedal to the metal is being opted. Not very enjoyable as city driving, but this car simply belongs on highway and race track mostly! Not much performance after market parts for engine upgrade though.
