1989 Alfa Romeo 164 V6 review from Australia and New Zealand
"Beats a BMW hands down"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Climate Control was faulty when I bought it. Kept pushing out hot air. Apparently this is a common problem. Needed a new stepper motor which was too expensive to consider.
Cam belt went at 107,000 miles. Required a replacement engine.
The motor for the electric sunroof was wearing out and needed replacing.
Due to expense of parts a medium sized accident made it uneconomical to repair.
General comments?
A very strong performer with great acceleration and handling.
Very good on long journeys. Comfortable ride and capable cruising speeds.
Beautiful inside and out. Mine was black with matching leather. Great styling by Pininfarina.
The only down side is the cost of repairs. Everything is electric, and everything wears out. Buy one cheap and be prepared to spend a fortune on it.
