1991 Audi V8 Quattro Quattro review from North America
"In my opinion, it is a very big, safe, comfortable rocket ship with heated seats and a great stereo"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I have done several things that are really just required service, but they were fairly expensive (for me anyway) - even though I did the work myself.
I replaced the clutch and timing belt.
Total cost for both jobs was about $4000 and includes having the transmission overhauled ($1800 and not really needed, but I wanted new oil seals) and lots of other new parts like water pump, motor mounts, fan drive clutch, rear main seal, etc.
I am currently having the power steering pump rebuilt because it developed a small leak. That is the closest thing to a "failure" I have had. This seems to be sort of an Audi thing.
General comments?
The interior (all leather) has held up very well.
The carpet is real wool and still looks great.
The body in general has held up great and still looks good even after all these years. This car loves road trips and the V8 has power to spare. It has a top end of 150MPH if you are brave/dumb enough to test it. The quattro system is simply amazing.
This car also has a very long list of safety features.
