1996 Jaguar XJR review from United Arab Emirates
"Best drive ever - be sure your rich to own one!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Interior roof lining sagged at rear and needed to be re-glued.
Driver seat electronics are intermittent, and front height adjust has stopped working.
Seat memory is very forgetful... and often does not work at all.
Side mirror electrics failed.
Signs of rust around sun-roof which was repaired under the 5 year warranty.
The radio has stuck on one channel, with no volume adjustment - I cannot even switch it off.
Steering stiffens randomly, as if there is no power steering or the engine has gone off - this almost caused a crash as I was going round a roundabout.
General comments?
This is the best car ever to drive, but Jaguar seem to have cut corners on the electronics as just about everything seems to fail.
It is very expensive to service - about US$4,000 per year minimum.
Miles per gallon is 17mpg - which is better than my previous Land Rover Discovery.
