1996 Ford Windstar GL review from North America
"If you like to walk, buy a1996 windstar"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When we first bought the windstar, the speedometer stared bouncing. After about a year it started cutting off when you backed up and went forward. You had to keep one foot on the gas and one on the brake. Then steam started rolling out of the tailpipe. The problem was a blown intake manifold gasket. This ran me about $600.I got a good deal on the repairs because the person who worked on it was a good friend of my dad. Now the engine needs to be rebuilt and this time it will not cheap. I am probably better off trading this headache for a Chevy or a Mazda. I lost a lot of trust in Ford. My very first car was a 1967 mustang fastback. I never thought that I would have problems like this with Ford.
General comments?
The comfort of the windstar is great.
However, it would be a better automobile if it had a small V-8 in it.
