1993 Nissan Skyline gt25t review from Australia and New Zealand
"A good car to gain car modification knowledge"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The old clutch was dead due to wear.
Suspension is not in top condition.
Ignition timing was out a couple of degrees.
General comments?
The r33 Gtst in stock form is a very smooth car to drive.
However, if modifications like boost controller (o.8 bar optimum for stock turbo),exhaust, filter, front mount, are installed, it becomes a very potent street car.
With those mods alone I gained 245hp on the rear wheels and a 13.6s quarter mile time.
After the stage 1 modification, if you add an aftermarket ecu, bore out the turbo, add semi slicks and a tougher clutch, low 12's is possible.
When you do anything that alters the car's original setting such as boost, make sure you do it on a dyno, sometimes the timing will be out and youll lose power so try to get a smooth power curve.
If you want to go faster, get a GTR, but a gtst is enough to kill the competition on the streets.
More hardcore gtst users add large external wastegated turbos, but in my opinion is not feasible because of the rear wheel drive setup and the internals are pretty weak.
A good suspension system is vital such as HKS hypermax D's.
Lowering with just springs or without any camber, or other adjustments will result in too much - camber and bad handling.
A full whiteline kit is proven to be the best and will make the car handle beautifully.
Make sure to service the car regularly!
I also use REDLINE gear oil when I service my car, it results in no hard crunches in cold starts and lengthens the life of your gearbox.
