1993 Renault 19 16V review from UK and Ireland
"Probably excellent if looked after with extreme affection"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Had to replace the catalytic converter.
Had to replace part of exhaust manifold
to fit new catalytic converter.
Had to replace throttle potentiometer.
Required new earth wire.
Electrics have been playing up.
Have had to replace alternator due to battery wear down.
General comments?
I do like the car, however, it was bought as seen and I have no comeback on claiming repair costs from previous owner.
I have now spent more money in repairs than the vehicle cost me so it would seem reasonable to keep it for a while.
The car itself is very nippy, and holds the road extremely well, even in the wet. It sounds nice, and when it's running it's a nice motor.
The only criticism I would have of the car is with the adjustable steering column. It seems the lower you have it the stiffer the steering wheel becomes.
