1980 Holden Commodore SL station wagon review from Australia and New Zealand
"Under powered car, but nice to drive"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Thermostat cracked, due to no water in the car.
Kilometer gauge stopped at 185003
blew a hole in the piston (before I owned it)
replaced door and front guard panel due to rust.
Replaced carburetor and alternator, due to wear.
General comments?
My dad got this car for me in early 2001 for 50$ with a blown piston we rebuilt and resprayed the engine and put a aftermarket exhaust on it, it has some old torana chromies and is lowered 2 inches. we recently also resprayed the whole car white and installed a sony xplod head unit with 4 inch speakers at the front and 6x9s at the rear. its in auto, and has minimal power up hills. spins great in the wet and gravel, but has no chance no chace on dry road handles great due to it lowered status. my friends sigmas and coronas of nearly the same year only just beat me, (1.9 vs 2.0) in all a great car to drive and pulls heaps of chicks.
