1993 Holden Calais VR review from Australia and New Zealand
"Full feature motoring at base model price"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Power steering pump leak
Automatic transmission wear
Rear tyre wear.
General comments?
If buying a used VR it is worth finding a Calais. The price is not much more than lesser models, and it is packed with features.
I do a lot of towing and the transmission has got worse and worse. The yellow warning light comes on after 1/2 an hour of towing. I'm getting a change over transmission fitted $$$.
Fitted with the independent rear suspension the car sags resulting in excessive negative camber. This causes tyre wear on the inner edges of the tyres, and provides limited grip in the wet.
