1973 Ford Galaxie 500 review from North America
"The greatest sleeper ever made"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When I got it I had to put on new front brake pads and rotors.
I tuned up the engine- plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points, condenser, oil change, air filter, etc.
I had to put a new gas tank in at around 175,000.
I blew up the rear-end about 3 months ago, I pulled the junk 8.8 out and got a 9 inch out of a Lincoln Continental and put 4.11 gears and a posi in it. I am waiting for the driveshaft to come back from the shop.
I am putting a built 460 in it and a built c-6 tranny in it. can't wait!
That's about it, it's been a great car.
General comments?
The bench seats are the best I have ever sat in, you just sink down in them.
The handling is a little sluggish, but that is typical for boats like this.
The car weighs 5500 lbs. I get 11 mpg.
I have not put the new, bigger motor in it yet.
That's it.
