2001 Chevrolet Astra GLS Hatch review from Brazil
"General Motors still haven't mastered the art of reliability"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Crankshaft and camshaft sensors both replaced twice.
Noises and knocking from undefined parts from the car, especially on bad roads.
Noise from the rear left wheel.
Water leak into the cabin.
Air-con compressor replaced twice.
Clutch replaced twice.
Oil leaks.
Front electric windows stopped working after one week of owning the car.
General comments?
After owning a 1998 Kadett GLS 2.0 MPFI, I decided to buy the Astra GLS Hatch in 2001.
The Astra, it's a good car, Kadett, but GM have to get better with their quality control. In three year of ownership, the Kadett gave me 25% of the problems which I have with the Astra.
The dealers, they made the situation worse, because the service wasn't ever good at the first visit, many visits to the dealer being necessary to fix some problem, and when I went to complain about a little problem they just say: "Bring it back when it gets worse". Is this the kind of service that a dealer should give to a customer?
I was thinking to buy a new brand Zafira, but after this car's problems, I will have to think carefully before to buy another car from Chevrolet.
