1985 Chevrolet Spectrum review from North America
"The first car I will always love"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Timing Belt Broken within 1,000 miles of having it replaced.
Thermostat Stuck.
CV Joints Replaced.
Trip odometer stopped working.
Would not idle with A/C running.
A/C Compressor Died at 128,000 miles.
General comments?
This car was a hand-me-down that I still love although it no longer runs.
While my Spectrum was not peppy in the least, it was an attractive hatchback. I had the optional instrument panel, which while convenient actually was a bit depressing when watching the Tachometer while accelerating. The interior was much more spaceous than most mid-sized sedans and The Control Panel design was used for 10 more years in Isuzu's other vehicles.
When The engine gave up the Ghost I spent years trying to convince my father to replace the little Isuzu engine to no avail, Finally He Bought me a Corsica to take to college, it more than compensates but I still miss my little Chevy/Isuzu.
