1999 Plymouth Voyager from North America

Summary:

Very comfortable

Faults:

My air bag light is on, the horn does not work and the cruise control does not work either. I visited my local repair shop and they gave me an estimate of $300 to repair this. I don't think I should have to pay for a safety feature. Will my air bag work if I am in an accident?

General Comments:

I enjoy my van and it has been a very good vehicle.

The problem is the clock spring. There IS a recall on this item in some earlier model vans, but it isn't at all uncommon for 1999 vans to have clock spring issues as well. You may want to print out information on this recall from www.nhtsa.gov (if you are in the U.S.) and take it to your dealer. They may work with you on the price of the clock spring and/or labor.

1999 Plymouth Voyager 3.6 V6 from North America

Summary:

Nice car if you do not mind replacing transmissions

Faults:

The transmission computer had to replaced at 17000 miles.

The transmission overheated and had to be replaced at 25000 miles.

Visor clip broke and needs to be replaced.

General Comments:

If it were not for the transmission, I would really like the car. It has decent power and handles well for its size.

However, it is a little small for my needs. It is difficult to get into the third bench seat, and this seat has little leg room. I would have purchased a grand voyager, but for some reason, the voyager was supposed to be more reliable.

I did not learn my lesson from my last Chrysler mini-van. It went through three transmissions in its lifetime.

Five months past the end on the warranty on my "new" 1999 van, the transmission had a massive leak and had to be replaced. The dealer was not forthright about why this happened. I assume it had a small leak and the computer did not warn me like it should have.

Chrysler is paying half of the $2200 bill, but I am dreading the next time it breaks. I am going to get rid of the car.

1999 Plymouth Voyager from North America

Summary:

This car is not to good needs more power

Faults:

Lots.

General Comments:

What can I say had a 1991 Mazda Mpv and it ran better than this van. It makes to much noise, and the transmission is bad.

I would appreciate more a review that gives some details. How many miles on the car and how have you taken care of it? Are you aware that Chrysler vans are very sensitive to the type of transmission fluid you put in them? Use the right fluid and don't trust what the dealer, mechanic or anyone else puts in it because a lot of mechanics think that any kind of good ole Dextron/Mercon fluid will work.

If you're going to review something, then at least give some facts. I would classify this as an "incomplete" review. Lots of emotions and not enough facts.

1999 Plymouth Voyager SE 2.8 V6 from North America

Faults:

Flat tire, interior plastic piece fell off.

General Comments:

Purple is an ugly color for this van, I'm sorry I got it that color. I like it best from the inside, so I don't have to look at the cranberry exterior. The inside is very spacious, even the back seats, and has many accomodating features. Stereo is good for a minivan, and with 4 people loaded there is much room for cargo. Roof rack is durable and useful. Tinted windows need to be darker.

I just purchassed a 99 Voyager SE Espresso, so I was looking for more reviews from people who have owned one for a while. This review was the least helpful I found. Excuse me, but the color and stereo aren't exactly at the top of my concerns... I'd like to know things like reliability, gas mileage..etc. I'll take a purple van anytime if I know it has solid reliability, and the stereo is something that can be easily replaced if you don't like it.
