2001 Suzuki Wagon R+ GL+(AC) review from UK and Ireland
"A bundle of laughs with zero style!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Absolutely nothing in the time I had the car.
General comments?
I had this car as a hire car whilst on holiday in Greece. Because I wanted Air Conditioning and a small car I was limited to the Hyundai Amica, Wagon R+ or the Vahuxhall Corsa. Having immediately disregarded the Corsa (I hate them) I was left with the Amica and Wagon R+. Not having even heard of either of these models I chose the Wagon R+ because it's engine was 30% larger than the Amica's.
Interior:-
I was pleased with the comfort levels of the interior, although for long distance I think the seats would become uncomfortable. The dashboard is very plasticy and not to my taste at all, although it does serve its purpose very well. I did not like the cloth pattern on the interior - it reminded me of a play school childs drawing! All buttons were solid and the radio worked, albeit rather unimpressivly.
Exterior:-
OK. I would never buy one of these cars. It's a box, no style whatsoever. Mine was in a lurid yellow colour too which was kind of funky in a way! Body coloured bumpers made the car look neat though.
Driving:-
Great! Nippy, good power steering and a good feel to the pedals, although the brake pedal was a little too high and felt slightly wooden. The handling wasn't Ferrari, but overall this car is a bundle of laughs and although doesn't go fast, it certainly felt fast enough for something this tall and narrow!
Equipment:-
The air conditioning was the main reason of choosing this car. It worked superbly. As the exterior temperature was often above 35celcius I found running the car with the air con switched on for about 10 minutes cooled the car down to Hoover fridge levels and very comfortable driving conditions. Power front windows and mirrors and PAS rounded off a nice little car with bundles of practicality and many, many laughs.
Overall:-
A good fun car with no style whatsoever. Very cheap to insure, maybe an ideal modern student car if he/she doesn't mind being the 'odd' one in the car park! If you can forget the image it's a laugh to drive. As I said, I wouldn't buy one though.
