1986 Holden Commodore VL review from Australia and New Zealand
"Only car I would own!!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Gear box blow the 5 gear out, as well as the Reverse idler and drive cog was chewed.
There was rust around the front window sill as normal.
General comments?
Since I've owned the car I have customized the seat rails and fitted new race seats which has totally
improved the comfort of car. That in the front anyway, I don't sit in the back.
With 16x8 all round the handling of the car has been dramatically improved, as if glued to the road.
I've also just replaced my front window, but instead of reusing the old plastics I had a 1 piece rubber mold fitted.
It has improved the look of the car, well I think so anyway.
When I had the gear box rebuilt I paid more and got heavy bearing fitted, I can snap gears easier and faster that I was able to, it will now spin both tyres through 1st, 2nd and 3rd down the 1/4 mile. With out crunching.
All round I think this type of car the best car made, goes hard as most of the new one, reliable, cheap to run and easy to work on.
