1977 Ford Granada mk1 Ghia review from UK and Ireland
"Grunty armchair"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Drivers door rusted out... it is 27 years old! oil pump drive came adrift resulting in loss of oil pressure, but caught it in time.
Gearbox is on the way out.
General comments?
I love this car! I wanted a Mk1 granny after watching the sweeny as a kid. The 3.0 V6 essex is a torque monster, it will pull top gear from 15 mph, far superior to the later cologne engine.
As expected, it is also a pig on petrol! shows its age by lack of 5th gear, but still good for 110 if you push it. These old fords are ideal for the home mechanic, everything is easy on them.
