1983 Ford Escort RS 1600i review from UK and Ireland
"An individual mass market car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Engine siezed up, brake system needed rebuilding, clutch cable snapped, clutch adjustor mechanism replaced, 2 broken CV joints, gear selector, synchromesh on gearbox, light problems, clock stopped, rev counter stopped working!
General comments?
A noisy uncomfortable cheap car with very high running costs, poor parts availability, unreliable. But I love it. People often stop in the road and beep their horn and give a thumbs up. It sounds like it has 300hp. It has poor traction but very good lateral traction. Often people have tried to buy it from me but I couldn't sell it yet.
