1985 Cadillac Seville review from North America

"A well built stylish car that could have been better with performance added"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The left hand power mirror control broke.

The sun visors are drooping and cannot be tightened any further.

Dust creeps between the outer lens and the inner lens of both taillights.

The driver's arm rest started to crack.

General comments?

This is a fabulous car as far as costs of maintenance go. I have put over 10,000 miles on this car and the car still appears new, both inside and out. The 4.1 engine leaves a lot to be desired in the performance category, but it is quiet and hasn't given me any of the problems that other owners of these cars have experienced.

I cannot complain about this Seville at all. It has been dependable to a fault, is extremely comfortable, and will deliver between 21-27 miles per gallon on the highway, and that is with the air conditioning on and blowing cold.

I love this old Bustle back Caddy, and people either love the styling or seem to hate it. If General Motors wouldn't have been caught up in the CAFE mileage wars and had left the Olds 350 engine in these cars, who knows what they would have evolved into.

The styling was unique, the comfort, luxury, and ride were way above most cars of their time, but the performance and reliability wasn't anything to write home about. The 1980-85 Seville always reminded me of the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz... "If I only had a heart!"
