1985 Buick Park Avenue sedan review from North America

"Great car in all aspects"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Armrests on the front doors have come loose. However I later found out that this was a common problem on the GM C bodies of this generation. Power window motors eventually went south, but were all replaced. Other than that, routine maintenance.

General comments?

This Park Avenue has been a great car. When I went to look at these in the fall of 84, I was a little leary of a front wheel drive car. Almost 20 years and almost 360000 miles later, I'm glad I changed my mind.

The dealer kept trying to push the then fairly new digital dash feature, but I did not get that, figuring it would be just a fad (For the most part, it ended up being just that). They were also trying to sell me a model with a 3.0 carbureted V6 (Which was odd, because that was the less expensive motor on that car. It was dropped in the park ave. line after 85). I ended up with a gray metallic sedan with a light gray leather interior, which has worn incredibly well over the years. It has every option with the exception of the digital dash. the ride is positively beautiful considering that it's a smaller front wheel drive version of what was once a large rear drive car. I can't believe the gas mileage this car gets as well. When the motor and trans go, I'll probably just have them rebuilt, instead of buying a new car. I've come this far with my park avenue, and plan on having it for a while to come. Great car!
