1999 SsangYong Musso review from Australia and New Zealand
"Stay away unless someone dares you"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
4wd sensor failed, stopping it from going into 4wd.
Spare wheel hoist broke leaving the wheel to become detached from car on motorway, almost causing a serious accident.
Manual transmission selector broke off in my hand while driving.
Large chunk of metal blew out of the side of the turbo intake denting the underside of bonnet.
Steering makes creaking sounds when turned.
Handbrake always comes loose.
Seatbelt buckles don't click properly. Air Conditioning motor broke.
Electric passenger window stopped working, had a faulty connection.
General comments?
General fitments of panels both interior and exterior is terrible, with uneven placement and weak connections.
This vehicle has cost a fortune to keep up to scratch, and although the vehicles are cheap new, parts are hard to come by, with only one distributor in New Zealand, they are extremely expensive and usually take 10 weeks to arrive from Korea, if at all.
Avoid these vehicles at all cost.
Only good points are that they are strong safe vehicles have a good 4wd system and are cheap to run (Diesel price)
