1996 Jaguar XJR review from Thailand
"I just love the way Jaguar looks"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Oil leaks from power steering. Fixed easily, but very costly.
Some annoying noise from behind, originally thought that the 5th wheel didn't fit well. But it is something else, and the technician still cannot figure out exactly where the noise come from, I already paid like US3,000 for many un-relevant parts changes. This annoying noise is still on. Going to get to the garage again next week.
Memory seat function never works, and very expensive to fix.
The car always likes to go left than right, the steering wheel shakes and bounce quite a lot on the a-bit rough surface. These happens even just after went out of the garage. I guess the steering wheel is a bit too sensitive.
General comments?
The engine is strong, very rapid car considering its size. 0-200km/hr is very quick, I feel that XJR is much quicker than 964C4 that I once tried. It goes quicker during winter time. Though 99% of the time in Thailand is summer.
It looks very exclusive, and rarely seen on the street, unlike Benz or BMW. I just love it low-look. Planning to change the wheel to 2003 model 19" this year. Though this will definitely worsen the steer feel.
The cabin is way too small, impossible to be pampered in the rear. The driver seat never sit low enough.
Brake is not up to XJR's power and weight. Need to be upgraded in some way.
