1988 Alfa Romeo Alfasud Sprint / Sprint Cloverleaf review from UK and Ireland
"Solid reliable fun on a budget"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing new has gone wrong with it since I got it.
The faults which it had when I bought it were -
Rust
Intermittent setting on wipers doesn't work.
Still has these faults, although slightly less rust!
General comments?
Its been much better than I expected considering it cost £400. its pretty rough round the edges and the front end appears to have been smacked once or twice in its life, but nothing serious.
The engine has a fantastic sound to it, combine that with it being ported, the twin carbs (re-jetted), k&ns and a stainless exhaust and the car goes quite well.
Its evidently had its day in being right up there in performance, but its still more than enough for everyday use.
The handling is good, very positive. I would say it doesn't feel like it sticks as well as my old beta volumex, despite this car having adjustable shocks and lowered springs.
My only real complaint is that the car is very prone to torque steer, which although part of the character, feels a bit excessive.
