1992 Ford Thunderbird LX review from North America
"Ford made a damn good car!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
At 100,00 miles I had to replace a taillight and the automatic window button.
At 150,000. I had to replace the trans. Also at 150,000 I had to replace the shocks again, the tires, and the battery.
At 180,000 miles I had to have one of the engine mounts re-welded.
At 285,000 miles the odometer stopped working.
General comments?
I believe this to be one of the best cars that Ford has ever made. I had bought the car with 50,000 miles and literaly drove it into the ground. I sold it with 285,000 and it proboly had more miles because the odimeter craped out on me. Yes I had to make repairs, but that comes from wear and tear on the car. When I had sold it the rebuilt tranny was starting to slip, but the engine was still in great shape.
The interior was comfortable and the had plenty of room. The radio's button's ended up popping off around 150,000 miles, but that is an easy fix.
This car got about 23-25 miles to the gallon and I wouldn't mind owning another one.
The exterior of the car was still in good shape when I sold it and had a little rust on the wheel walls.
As for speed this car could really go fast when you floored it.
I recently saw the new owner and he had put $1,000 work into it and said it was like a new car.
It was about time Ford made a good car!
