1993 Nissan Skyline GTS25T review from Australia and New Zealand
"Excellent bang for buck, looks cool, and is reliable (rare with a lot of performance cars.)"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The nuts holding the turbo to exhaust manifold had worked their way loose, creating a whistle, and loss of power. Apparently a common Nissan problem, but easily rectified.
Drivers side mirror (fold in motor) stopped working.
Rear tyres wore out after 10,000km. (partly my fault)
The plastic covers under the front wheel arches worked their way loose at high speeds.
General comments?
The car is no slug in stock form, but with the amount of potential the car has it's a shame to leave it standard.
After adding a 600x300 hybrid intercooler and raising the boost from standard 7psi to 10.5psi there was a considerable difference in acceleration.
It is a heavier car than the earlier r32 skyline, but it is roomier inside, and also compensates with the torquier rb25 motor.
It handles really well being quite big for a sports car, just about no body roll, and maybe just the slightest understeer, which can be countered by using the accelerator or handbrake.
It would benefit with a set of lower profile tyres and a whiteline works suspension kit. You can't have comfort and insane handling at the same time though :)
