1987 Ford Laser KC review from Australia and New Zealand
"Great Reliabilty"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
This car has exceptional reliability and is cheap to repair.
The biggest expense I've had is replacing the head, though this was partially my own fault. A dodgy servicer didn't pick up a major coolant hose had severely perished, and when it finally broke the car overheated, (this occurred a week after servicing)
Since having the head replaced the car has done a further 30 000ks, and is running better than ever.
CV joins are a common problem, though I'm not sure how big a problem they are.
General comments?
The car performs reasonably well considering its age and technology. It is a manual so I think that helps.
The cabit is quite comfortable, its easy to fit big items in the back when you move the back seats down.
The Ghia model has quite nice seats and interiour.
Water leaks into the car when its on a flat surface, often filling up a portion of the back foot spaces. I haven't noticed it happening this year though, possibly because I have parked it on a greater incline.
Very easy to break into, a screw driver is enough, expect to get yobos breaking in if you leave it in a run down area over night.
