1992 Subaru Brumby GL review from Australia and New Zealand
"Best vehicle that Subaru ever created. A car way beyond it's time!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing really has gone wrong with the car.
Had to change steering mechanism thing because it rusted out after a four-wheel-driving trip to lake George in the South East, SA.
Changed the exhaust because of rusted holes.
Leaking oil from the front left C.V, nothing serious.
General comments?
The car is an absolute beast!
I have taken it on four-wheel-driving trips several times and I have never managed to bog it. It just does not bog!
It can pull like triple its weight as well. I once pulled a Toyota LandCruiser troopy out from a bog in a dried up lake.
I still can't believe how well the little thing sits on the highway. It handles so bloody well for its size.
I would rate the car in the top four-wheel-driving ranks. Every time I have taken it four-wheel-driving with other cars (landcruisers, landrovers, hiluxs') it puts them to shame. No one can believe how unstoppable it is.
I have recently put an MP3 player in it, 6 inch speakers, tinted the windows, resprayed the tray and put a 2 inch sports exhaust on it, it looks marvelous! I have still got plans for it as well, like bigger tyres (26inch), 2 inch lift etc. It is going to be an absolute unstoppable 4 x 4 machine!!!
