1991 Holden Calais VP review from Australia and New Zealand
"Awesome power and Reliability, just watch that rubber burn"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Power steering rack leaked, I let it get too low and stuffed the power steering pump too. Fixed it with new ones from wreckers. rear power windows don't work, I will fix them eventually. tyres keep going bald on the back. I think I have a pretty good idea of what the problem is. ;)
General comments?
Awesome car, I absolutely love the V8 VN/VP's, reliable heaps of grunt, T700's are good transmissions, firm shifts (chirps second with stock trans and 15 inch wheels) very economical for a V8, more economical than my previous car (EB I6 4.0L falcon). cruise control helps. nothing sounds better than a 5.0L commodore. I don't know what top speed it has because the speedo only goes up to 220km/h. IRS gives decent handling and traction when needed. if you want a cheap, fast and reliable machine you can't beat a V8 VN/VP, they will take abuse all day long.
