1998 Daewoo Lanos

Summary:

Reliable, cheap runabout

Faults:

Replaced the clutch - it had just worn out.

General Comments:

This car is excellent at doing what it's meant to do - be a reliable, cheap to maintain runabout.

It hasn't given me any problems; great on fuel and easy to park.

The interior is bland, but what do you expect?

1998 Daewoo Lanos SE 1.5

Summary:

Complete lemon

Faults:

Engine faulty had to be replaced in 2003, windscreen wiper motor died, seats have started to wear badly, Heating system leaks water into the car, car shakes at high speeds, terrible speakers and faulty car stereo.

General Comments:

Serious problems with this car, slow and noisy, with lots of problems. Only good quality is its fuel economy, avoid at all costs.

1998 Daewoo Lanos SE 1.5

Summary:

Still swear by this vehicle, like it or not

Faults:

No problems as yet.

Great service from the Daewoo dealer.

Have ten Lanos' on the fleet at work, have no problems with them and still swear by them.

General Comments:

Great little car for its price range.

Smooth as silk manual box.

Good economy (600 km's on 3/4 tank last weekend with the A/C on).

Great dealer support, good warranty.

If anyone doesn't like their Lanos, they should have taken it for a proper test drive before they bought it.

Great handling with wider, lower profile tyres.

Drive a Commodore, still love driving the Lanos.

I TOOK a test drive.

Too bad it didn't last for two years... then, all of the things that have gone wrong with it wouldn't be my problem.

I'm glad you like your car, but I know so many people who had have myriad problems that it is NOT worth it to buy a Daewoo.

Last year alone I spent an extra $1500 on fixing the car... things the warranty did not cover. Add that to the price of the car and the $600 I'm about to spend to fix it (again), and it is NOT worth it.
