1992 Ford F150 XLT Flareside 302 CID V8
Summary:
Eye-catching piece of classic Americana
Faults:
Has needed replacement ABS and throttle position sensors. Very little else apart from regular maintenance.
Rust on the rear of the cab in the same place each side which needed repairs.
General Comments:
Ninth generation single-cab short-bed F150 which was a beautiful design.
Factory manual five-speed gearbox which I believe might actually be made by Mazda. Bench seat gets uncomfortable on long trips. Custom exhaust which sounds great. Due to manual stick shift gearbox, can only really seat two adults.
Doors rattle noticeably. Bed has no liner but hasn't rusted despite the outer layer of paint flaking off. Interior lining has survived remarkably well.
Thinking of selling it to free up garage space, but my wife loves the look of it and wants to keep it.
Fuel consumption the same as my previous 1996 C1500 automatic at 20 imperial MPG, so not great.
