1997 Ford Festiva Trio 1.3

Summary:

A Zippy little thing!

Faults:

Not long after I purchased the car I had it put in for a service to get everything checked over and the brake pads needed replacing, as well as a headlight globe.

I don't think this is a reflection of poor workmanship or anything though as the car is 5 years old and eventually those things need to be done. It hasn't broken down as such though.

General Comments:

I love my Car! It is definitely a girl's car (which is OK since I am a girl), and I admit that it does struggle a bit with hills etc. but that is not a problem where I live because we don't have many hills. While it isn't a powerful car I find it to be quite zippy just around town and a real pleasure to drive!

Struggle a bit with the hills? My flat mate has a Festiva trio and it struggles to keep up with the pace at the traffic lights on a flat plane. She's given up driving it home to the country on uni. holidays as it is battling to do 110kph. Her car is also 5 years old and I'll tell you it rattles like anything. Maybe you should opt for a Holden Astra or Barina.

Maybe, just maybe its the way your flatmate treats the car. Is it serviced regularly? looked after in the way it is driven or is it just thrashed?. Makes one wonder does it not.

I drive a Ford Festiva Trio of a similar era and I can do nothing but rave at the quality of my vehicle. In almost seven years I have had no major problems. The car is economical, zippy, easy to drive and easy to park. My only complaint is the obvious lack of performance, but lets face it... it's a 1.3 Festiva, what can you you expect. Overall, a fantastic city car.

My Festiva; I loved it for a while, but now it doesn't like me, so I don't like Festivas.

It always breaks down, and it's so temperamental.

1998 Ford Festiva WB 1.3

Summary:

Stay away from Ford

Faults:

Basically what hasn't gone wrong with it?

1.5 years into ownership the engine blew (a big end.. so basically had to replace the whole engine), wasn't a cheap thing considering it was a relatively new car.. and Ford (Found On Rubbish Dump as I like to call them now) decided that it wasn't covered under the warranty...

Just recently the front brakes have started to come on causing huge amounts of stress on the engine etc... when will it end?

General Comments:

I'll never ever buy another Ford.

Right then.. Guess who made the Festiva for Ford.. Kia.. that's why you've got a load of crap!

We had a Festiva 1996 and have had no problems with it.

Yep, don't blame Ford, blame KIA. I also had a Festiva LX with 100K + miles on it and I beat the hell out of it off roading, high speed driving etc... took it on 2 vacations across the U.S. And all I ever had to do was replace the ignition coil, the best part is the car only cost me $200.
