1981 Holden Commodore VC 3.3L Straight Six

Summary:

Powerful, Reliable BEAST!!

Faults:

When I first got the car it cost me $1200 and there were a few minor issues with it. The left engine mount was broken, Rear gear box mount, body needed a very small touch up, gear box oil valve need replacing. All this cost little over $200 to fix so was quite cheap to repair.

General Comments:

Great car to drive. Comfortable, Reliable & immaculate interior. Cheap parts, easy to get and cheap to repair. After touching up the body which cost me $24 for a spray paint can the body now looks brand new. No rust which is great and unusual for such an old car. Engine is quite powerful and defiantly makes it easy to do the odd burn out or just taking off at the lights your always at the head of the pack. I would defiantly recommend a Commodore VC 6 Cylinder to anyone especially a P Plater who needs a cheap reliable car.

1981 Holden Commodore VH 202 Blue

Summary:

Very quick, reliable, comfortable bargain!

Faults:

Rear Left lower suspension arm bush is worn, Leaks transmission fluid and oil.

General Comments:

This car is very very quick with its worked 202 blue although handling is not that great, but the size of the car explains that well.

Absolutely fantastic car for anyone looking for a car under $1000.

1981 Holden Commodore VH 202 straight 6 3.3L

Summary:

A fast car that goes hard

Faults:

I Blew the engine and had to replace it.

The gear stick came out and had to be replaced as the thread was ruined.

Electrical problems with the car such as indicators and front lights turning on and off.

The Side mirrors fall out of place.

General Comments:

This car is pretty fast and drifts phat.

When the engine blew I decided to rebuild it instead of replacing it.

I used a Larry Perkins race set of pistons and rings and then bored out the heads. After the engine work I fitted a pair of extractors and a 2 1/2 cat back system (soon to be all the way through).

A few weeks later I fitted a 350 holly and a VL Diff.

The car also has 15 inch mags, lowered suspension (more at the back so it's dumbed), tinted windows, race pedals, a Momo steering wheel and gear knob.

I also have a CD player with 6x9's in the rear and 6 inches in the front. Soon I will be getting sub woofer.

After rebuilding my engine I noticed a huge difference in the power and I can now dumb the clutch and watch it spin through first, second, and even third gear. Getting the car lowered helped the handling and the drifting of the car as well.

1981 Holden Commodore SL 4.2 V8 petrol (253)

Summary:

Excellent all-round performer

Faults:

Handbrake seldom works, No mechanic can seem to fix it.

Electronic Ignition died on 2 occasions, both while doing 110 kph and and making the car backfire quite profoundly.

Noisy in Third gear.

Engine fan clutch has leaked and stopped working twice.

Clutch cable fell and rubbed onto exhaust manifold making it impossible to use clutch properly.

Numerous crazy faults with rear taillights. (Clean up the earth and they are fixed)

Replaced Fuel pump.

Miss on sudden hard acceleration.

General Comments:

Handling and performance are Excellent.

Is the most comfortable car I've ever driven.

253 sounds sweet with mod Exhaust.

When cleaned up it looks impressive, these cars are the best Aussie muscle cars.

Parts are everywhere and cheap.

Gets driven almost anywhere, it is comfortable and reliable. Shes not worth anything to sell, so I'm gunna hang on the her, do her up, and give her the live such a good car deserves.
