1987 Holden Commodore VL 3.0 L EFI

Summary:

Awesome Cruiser

Faults:

Hangar bearing replaced.

Air-conditioning works on and off.

General Comments:

Probably one of the best engines and cars I've had the pleasure of driving. It's a bit lousy and sluggish around town, but once on the open road, she handles beautifully. It has an awesome feel on the open road, good feedback from the road to the steering wheel. A smooth performer and a great cruiser, but has enough kick to do the job. I'm planning on doing some minor mods to the muffler, filter, and possibly will get it chipped.

1987 Holden Commodore VL 3.0 litre

Summary:

Good value transport, but far from exciting

Faults:

The switch to the electric fan on the front of the radiator broke. To change it I would have lost my air conditioning gas so it had to be bypassed.

Bearings worn and needed replacing on one wheel.

The fan switch is broken.

The fuel gauge is innaccurate.

Had to replace the alternator.

Have a current problem with the air to fuel ratio that is not caused by the computer or the air flow meter. When it has been tuned it runs well for about a month and then goes out again.

General Comments:

A very reliable car with a great engine. The engine is rumoured to have been a BMW design copied by Nissan.

Doesn't burn any oil at all.

It is a very smooth car to drive with good changes and good delivery of power. It has sufficient power to get you into or out of trouble.

There is plenty of cabin space for tall people in both the front and back.

The engine is rumoured to have been a BMW design copied by Nissan.

Is this true??

It can't be cause nissan make the best engines around I think!!!

They also have the best cars around too.

A great all round car with plenty of power, smooth ride and economical for its size. Easy to park in town, the best for cruisy travelling and very able at towing.

My advice to you is this. You should try buying a model from another manufacturer. You WILL BE pleasantly surprised to see the rise in quality of the car you then drive.

Thank you,

James.
