1991 Holden Commodore Executive 3.8

Summary:

A high performance Ex-chaser

Faults:

Annoying squeaky noise coming from the dash board.

Power steering hose leaking. Has been changed with a new pump and hose.

Rear, Right door lock doesn't work when central locking is used.

Window rubber seals is worn out.

Door makes a squeaky noise when opened.

General Comments:

Very happy with the car and the price I bought it for. Considering it's a BT1.

It goes pretty hard on the road. I was really surprised, I didn't expect it.

It looks pretty sharp even though I haven't done much to do up the car. Imagine doing it up?Mags, Sports exhaust, Audio system, Body kit, Etc...

Because it's a BT1,It's got FE2 sports suspension so it sits pretty low, Thick protector tray under the engine. It handles great.

Hey

I got a 1990 VN S with the fe2 suspension as standard, which I love.

Just so you know there are no engine mods with the bt1, so it goes just as hard as any other VR-R six.

1991 Holden Commodore VP 3.8

Summary:

Best thing I ever did, bought a VP commodore for $5,000 back in 1997

Faults:

The roof lining has recently started sagging.

There is a leak in the boot, which I seem to think is coming from around the tail light seals.

Alternator brushes went at about 170,000km.

The paint was extremely faded when I purchased the vehicle, it has since been resprayed jet black under lilac pearl.

My remote key stopped working today due to me being caught in a storm, (it got wet.)

Other than the above faults, I have encountered no other problems.

General Comments:

The car has a great deal of power, and is extremely fast off the mark.

Old V8's are no match for the 3.8L V6.

I have found you have to be extremely careful in the rain if you have a bit of a lead food.

Handles great, but can be a bit bumpy over rough terrain.

What else can I say, if your looking for a great car go a VP commodore.

1991 Holden Commodore Executive 3.8

Summary:

A honest big car

Faults:

The car had a faulty crank angle censor and refused to start when hot.

The bushes on the rear sway bar had worn and needed replacing.

At 70,000 ks the trip meeter stopped working, but was a cheap fix by Holden.

The rear springs and shock absorbers were replaced at 95,000ks.

General Comments:

The car has soft suspension making quick turning and open road driving at speed less confident than it could be.

The seating is comfortable.

However the use of Grey in the cabin gives a closed in feeling.

1991 Holden Commodore VP (1991) 3.8L V6

Summary:

Good, reliable car under $10000

Faults:

Nothing serious, just little things, when I went to the country to work I put pursuit rims, roo bar, hardened suspension and new tires, and made sure every trip everything was in order, and shes been a reliable car since.

It was in a crash (roos fault, no roo bar) before I bought it however the car was sent back to the dealer who replaced a few panels and fixed up the engine while they were at it. The paint job needs redoing after 11 years (it was a metallic blue).

Apart from that, shes a brilliant car, and I'd recommend the VP as a great family car and reliable.

General Comments:

Another hint; I found that having a towel on the back seat helps because kids in the back seat always leave assorted drinks and lollies behind preventing stains and the like.

A very fast car for a 3.8 more power than what thought it would have.
