1995 Honda Accord EXi-S 2.2 F22B3 petrol engine

Summary:

A nice one 3.5/5

Faults:

I'm gonna list some major problems only:

- The interior was poorly built, especially the seat - the leather is so easy to crack.

- Have suffered from some problem with the rear suspension, which makes me really upset sometimes.

- The steering is too light, I can even drive with 2 fingers =) And that makes the car really unstable at high speeds.

- The power of the engine has been going down dramatically since it reached 150 000 kms.

- The head gasket blew at 168 000 kms - expensive to fix.

- Clutch has some problems at 167 000 kms.

General Comments:

However, it's still a good choice for a first car, and trust me, this one is a true fuel-efficient car. Mine only drinks 10-12l/100km. It's a pretty good number for the 2.2 engine.

And, this car (the trim level EXi-S) is good looking as hell. I think it's the most handsome Japanese sedan in the year 1995.

In summary, if you re after an economical sedan with heaps of space, you should consider this one.

1995 Honda Accord EXi-S 2.2

Summary:

Nice, but I like it more than I love it

Faults:

Not much, had a cracked engine mount when I bought it.

The headlights keep blowing bulbs.

Leather is extremely low quality and cracks easily.

Heater core is leaking.

Intermittent ABS fault.

Drivers window is creaky when it goes down.

Remote locking is broken.

General Comments:

Generally reliable for its' age, fit and finish is excellent. Car started first time after being left in a blizzard.

The car is very economical on long trips (Auckland -> Wellington has been done on one tank before), but around town it drinks too much.

Performance is decent, but it's hardly a drivers car.

Well equipped car, but the seats hurt my back after a few hours.

Ultimately a bland car though that I have no emotional attachment to.

NB: This is the US-shape model.

I have exact the same car and suffered from exact problems. How coincidental. =)

1995 Honda Accord VTi 2.2 petrol VTec

Summary:

Extreme reliability coupled with amazing performance

Faults:

Slight rattle in the dashboard.

Timing belt changed at 75000 (before I had it, so I'm not sure why)

General Comments:

This car is fantastic, a great investment.

I had been looking for a 94-95 Honda for quite sometime, but it was only when I actually finally purchased one that I realised just how good they are. It may be true that parts and servicing for Honda's are a little more than other manufacturers, the fact that you simply don't need to service or fix the Accord very often at all completely outweighs any financial concerns.

As I constantly tell people, my Accord has the "zippyness", handling and looks of a sports car, the interior space of a family car, and the boot size of a four wheel drive! Plus it sounds fantastic. The VTEC engine handles anything I try to do to it with ease. These cars are just amazing.

For anyone considering purchasing a 94-97 Honda Accord, ignore any negative comments you have heard about it and buy one already! You won't regret it in the slightest!

1995 Honda Accord VTI 2.2 VTEC

Summary:

A quality grand tourer which I have no intention of parting with

Faults:

Lumbar support no longer operates.

General Comments:

This is far and away the best car I have had in terms of reliability, handling and sheer build quality. Nothing else comes close for the money.
