2003 HSV Clubsport R8 VY Series 2 5.7 V8

Summary:

You only live once, so go on spoil yourself, go and get one

Faults:

1. Electronic key on rare occasions malfunctions.

2. Bottom front grille scoop dislodged.

3. When reclining drivers seat, an annoying creak is audible.

General Comments:

I upgraded from a standard VY Clubsport (series 1) to an R8 because I wanted the extra bells and whistles, the better stereo, the 285 kilowatts and the higher performance brake package.

Acceleration is much improved and smoother, a far cry from the annoying flat spots I encountered in earlier models.

The premium brake package stops you quickly and smoothly giving you the confidence and peace of mind that you require for this type of car. Why HSV do not fit these brakes across all models is a mystery to me.

Full leather upholstered front seats are very comfortable and electronic seat adjustment also for the front passenger is a plus.

Interior design looks great with first time passengers being fascinated with dashboard layout especially at night when green illumination comes into play.

The rear sub-woofers are a bit of an overkill for us oldies, but would be appreciated by younger owners or those teens borrowing the car when daddy is having a nap.

The overall performance of this car is impressive and it also has the stunning looks that would certainly qualify it as a "hard to beat package".

2003 HSV Clubsport R8 VX Clubby R8 5.7 V8

Summary:

Drool machine

Faults:

Power steering needed to be replaced. Vibration in gear stick.

That's about it.

General Comments:

A very good car. It handles very well for a large car. Lots of power and very sweet to look at. Love at first sight I think.
