2014 Hyundai ix35 Active 2.0 petrol

Summary:

Better than you'd think, but forgettable

Faults:

Nothing. Only 3 years old and inside warranty period, so I didn't expect any problems.

General Comments:

I received a Hyundai ix35 as a company vehicle for just over a year. To be honest, I didn't expect much, but found it to be decent overall. The interior was quite plasticky and the front seats not particularly comfortable on drives over an hour. Kids disliked the lack of vents to the rear and also felt somewhat claustrophobic. I think this was partly due to the way the rear windows swept upwards combined with the all-black interior. Otherwise fairly well equipped and user friendly for the entry level trim spec. I personally find the styling a bit goofy.

Performance from the 2 litre petrol 4 cylinder is adequate, nothing more. In my opinion it was too rev happy and low on torque for the type of car. I drove a colleague's diesel version and it was far superior. A bit of extra ground clearance is nice, but this is no offroader.

A good family car that's extremely easy to drive but won't excite anyone.

Service from the dealer was outstanding. Free loan car, always on time and got the car back detailed.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
