Panasonic CD not working; radio & tape are fine.

Problem with drivers door window - had to replace the motor.

General Comments:

Very fast car, great handling, very safe.

Reliable, comfortable, looks like a jag

Mechanics and paint are good quality.

Easy to park with 4ws, great stopping power, big brakes.

The 929 is Mazda's underrated executive car from the 80s / 90s. I liked these cars, father had one back in the day, loved it. Fast, comfortable, and reliable.

1991 Mazda 929 AWS Leather 3.0 Litre V6

Summary:

The finest thing to ever emerge from Japan

Faults:

*Cam seals blew 3 months into ownership.

*On really hot days car sometimes does not want to kick over to start the engine due to worn switch under transmission selector. This problem can be fixed by placing foot on brake to release transmission selector, putting car into Neutral and then starting.

*Air conditioning compressor & clutch need replacing.

*Front control arms are starting to squeak and will eventually need replacing. Although it is very rare they make a noise.

*Heater does not blow hot air for some reason.

*I started the car one morning and it started to run rough for some reason, the engine was clanging loudly and the exhaust was billowing blue smoke. I then got it towed to a repairer and by the time it came off the truck it was running fine again. This problem never resurfaced for some strange reason.

*a dodgy mechanic spilt coolant on my spark plug leads so I had to get them replaced.

* One of the new spark plug leads kept falling out, but I jammed it in there in a bad mood and it has since stayed where it is! lol.

General Comments:

The interior is excellent with leather seats, climate control, power steering, power windows, 12 speaker cd & cassette system by Panasonic standard, cruise control, power mirrors, leather bound steering wheel and gear shifter, not to mention the pillarless windows and the CD that comes with the car that tells you all about how to use your new 929.

The exterior has many similarities to a Jaguar like other reviews have stated, with its sleek lines and ahead of its time styling. The car has a twin exhaust to complete the sports luxury look and the all wheel steering system makes parking a breeze and turning corners even easier.

The engine can be sluggish at times compared to 4.0 Litre V6's such as the one in the Ford Falcon range, but it has more than enough power to get you moving. The car once again is ahead of its time with Multi Point Injection and a Computer Diagnosis function in the engine bay for mechanics, not to mention the gas lift struts that lift the bonnet up for you.

In the time I have owned this car I have had nothing, but pure enjoyment and would recommend the HD & HE Mazda 929's to anyone.

Hello.

GREAT REVIEW... ONE question, hot did you get your heater to work again?

My heater is cold and now in winter it makes driving VERY difficult?

THANKS!

Maybe a bit late, but mine wasn't working, so I got the heater core flushed. Any radiator shop should do it for you.
