1994 Mitsubishi Lancer MR (Mivec) 1.6 Mivec

Summary:

Rubbish

Faults:

In the six months I had this car:

Map sensor went on me the first month I had the car. Cost me $400 to fix.

Replaced all four tyres.

Passenger side electric window stopped working.

Drivers side window kept falling down.

Automatic gear box blew up and it cost me $1200 to replace.

I would never ever buy another automatic Lancer mivec ever again.

General Comments:

Being a automatic, it was slow off the mark, and whenever you put yor foot down in it, it had at least a 15sec lag before mivec kicked in and the car actually went anywhere.

As soon as mivec kicked in this car just would not stop, it kept going and going.

Very roomy car.

A very sporty looking car, even though it's a four door.

I think a manual Lancer Mivec would be OK, but I would never buy a auto one as they always breakdown and are very unreliable.

Got about 350km per tank.

1994 Mitsubishi Lancer MR(Mivec) 1.6

Summary:

Wicked

Faults:

My Map sensor stopped working at 147,000km. Cost me a big 400 dollars to get it fixed.

Power Windows may need fixing soon, as they go up pretty slowly.

General Comments:

The car is very powerful and pretty quick off the mark for a automatic.

As soon as the mivec kicks in at about 5,000 rpm it takes off like a rocket.

Lots of room in the front and the back and big boot space.

Get about 350km's on a tank of gas only because I took the cat out to make the car more noisy

Very nice car to drive.

Has all the bells and whistles.

Hmm although the Evolution Series are very impressive cars (I have an E3 myself), I would not say they "eat 911 Turbo's".

Sure they accelerate just about as quick, but that is about when it stops.

Top end speed - no chance.

Braking - No chance.

Handling - depends on which model, but you might be able to make some ground in the twisty's.

But yeah very good cars - just not invincible is what I am saying.

1994 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 2 RS 2.0 litre turbo petrol

Summary:

A high performance bargain

Faults:

Bearings worn out in transfer case - cheap fix.

5th gear syncro worn, fan speed control resistors failed.

General Comments:

In my opinion a Lancer Evolution has the best price per performance of any car on the road. Standard car 13.1 1/4 mile for the equiv of US$10,000. Cheap to run, 10 litres/100k on the open road. Reliable, has never been undriveable. Usual Mitsubishi cam belt replacement should be followed without question. Better than any WRX.

Hi, I have just bought a 1994 evolution 2. The fifth gear synchro is worn, any cheap fix suggestions? I have been told Castrol VMX gear box oil is a good start and may help a lot.

Any help would be appreciated.

Where the hell did you get those quarter mile figures.14.1 on a good day. I also noted that you said better than any WRX remember 4G9e engined GSRs (1.8 turbo) are to compete with WRX's. If you still think mitsi can beat subaru go try your luck with an STI
